LOCKING TRUNK LID HANDLE  INSTRUCTIONS

PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION

The lock should have been shipped in the locked position with 2 keys.

Leave it locked or lock it for assembly so it will align correctly.

1.  Pull off the stock handle, and remove the locking bar from out of the trunk.

Remove the nylon bushing, it will not be reused.

2.  Secure the bar in a vice and cut it to 17 3/4 inches as shown.

3.  If you have a drill press, great. If doing it by hand, drill the hole through one side of the tube, then insert the handle in the tube and use it a guild for the bit. Just make sure you carefully align the 3/16 inch hole, 1/4 from the end of the tube.

Align it as close as possible in relation to the latch hook. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be centered.

4.  Make sure to debur the holes, and a shot of "rattle can" black will keep the rust away.

5.  Re-insert the bar back in the trunk and slide the brass plug in the tube and align the holes

and insert the cotter pin. Just bend it a bit until your sure everything lines up so the

lid shuts and locks properly.

6.  With the locked handle in the down position, turn the handle and escutcheon plate

so it seats in the hole and fits flat.

Center punch and drill the first 3/16 inch hole, and install screw, washer and nut and tighten.

Repeat for the second screw and tighten with driver and wrench.

Unlock the lock and check to see that the lid closes properly and will lock securely.

Make sure the cotter pin is spread properly.

I have personally installed several of these and have had no trouble.
